torque by raising the CR (as you stated), but my reasoning was to get that additional "off boost" power, and responsiveness, that gets the car into it's powerband quicker. I believe that the increase in CR also nets quicker spool up of the turbos (although I've heard both theories postulated from knowledgeable sources: that 1.higher CR increases boost response 2. lower CR increases boost response). I just went with what seemed to make sense on paper. The car seems to get into boost at a lower RPM than it did with the 8.5:1 CR, although there are so many other variables that I changed, my "experiment" would fail any type of controlled study.
